She’s my best friend, an amazing artist and my biggest fan. I’d be lost without her. I love you, Mom.
My cat, Molly Maru
After unexpectedly having to say good-bye to her big sister Tinker Belle just this July, she’s kept me sane. It’s so good to not come home to an empty house, and to not be alone during those moments that the dark tries to pull you under. There’s nothing that says “I love you and it’ll be okay, Mom” like her high-octane purr.
Being able to make a dream come true by visiting this little island was huge for me, and spending my birthday there was just an added bonus. The landscape is breathtaking, the people so diverse, and it’s hard not to love a place that gives you snow on your March birthday for the first time in over 20 years.
It’s one of the few things that gets me really animated when I talk about it, and I’ve made lovely friends because of it. It can be work, but it can be play, too. It’s exciting to be this close to finishing my first book, and really believing I can do it.
My Favorite TV Shows
1. “Castle” — it has Nathan Fillion; ’nuff said there. But to be fair, the rest of the cast is fantastic too. Can’t wait to hear Stana sing again!
2. “Supernatural” — it has great writing, a great cast (love me that John Winchester for sure) and what’s not to love about a ’67 Impala in perfect condition? I never ever get tired of watching this show over and over and over…
3. “Leverage” — for a summer cable show, it blew me away. Between the heists, cons and hi-jinks, it’s chock full o’ fun. I only wish the seasons were longer.
There are too, too many reasons to list. Although, see TV Shows item #1 for one of them. Wash, you are a leaf on the wind, my friend. R.I.P.
My best girlfriends
They’re the confidantes, conspirators and collaborators of my life. Love you all, and you know who you are.
A fast laptop
If you have to ask why, perhaps it’s time for an upgrade of your own?
Comfy clothes! Sleeping in. Fun. Doing my own thing on my own time. Mom. BFFs. Short Stop. Shopping. Alamo Drafthouse. Staying up late and not having to get up early. Choir.
The first time I went to this church, it was for the music. I came back because the people who make up the congregation are just as amazing as the music program. Both have inspired me to join the choir and even step out of my comfort zone here and there. Blessings to all.
